The One Where I Went on A Mission Trip
In this episode of The LED Podcast, I take you on my recent mission trip—one I was hesitant to go on, but one that turned out to be a God thing. From meeting Keith, a self-proclaimed pastor of all, to clearing thorn-infested vines and preaching a sermon I wasn’t sure would fit (Are We There Yet?), this trip challenged me in unexpected ways.
Then, we dig into a bigger discussion: Why do different church communities approach missions so differently? In my experience, predominantly Black churches focus on helping those inside their congregations, while wealthier, predominantly white churches often focus on overseas missions. Is there a disconnect? And what happens when, in the next 50 years, Christianity becomes a minority religion in America—could the mission field one day be us?
💡 Kingdom Culture Segment: The racial and economic divide in missions—why do some churches focus inward while others go global?
❓ God Questions Segment: Do all Christians need to be missionaries? What does it really mean to live on mission?
✋🏾 Training in Righteousness: This week, we’re looking at the spiritual discipline of Examen—because sometimes we need to examine our hearts and actions. (See what I did there?)
